Bennett Winch

When Approached by this exciting british brand I turned off my phone, turned up the volume On my tweed Amp and let my fingers walk me along a twisted Ordnance Survey map of Blues, Jazz, Good times and bad times. My guitar of choice here was a Gibson 1959 Les Paul 60th Anniversery. This is as close as a working musician will get to the revered 2000 or so that have survived and now wait in Limbo un satistfied in the vaults of collectors, financiers and no doubt the odd rock n roll dentist who needs something to brag about.

Filmed at SOUP STUDIO in London this piece was part of Bennett Winchs Cmpagn A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED series celibrationg crafsmenship in the UK and beyond.

United Harvest

I wanted to get down and dirty for this one to provide original music for this emerging Brands Campaign. Using an opening tuning I played upon classic Americana folk motifs. I Used and Old Martin Acoustic appropriated from my dad that has a wide warm devastatingly delicious tone. Picture the Lovechild between Steinway piano and a Grand National winning race horse and you’ll find this guitar. I used a stereo Ribbon micraphone to provide a natural sound and slammed it through a valve preamp or two to give a slightly grubbier sound.

Barber Wilsons

This Piece was Recorded on My Beautiful Broadwood & Sons Upright Piano that dates somewhere between 1910/1925. As an antidote to an over saturated world of quantised perfection, I chose to use a piano that had its own character and personality. Mimicking the manufacturing process I employed a heavy use of repatition.
